The present study examines Lebanon’s Hezbollah (Party of God) movement through the analytical lens of constructivism. Since it’s official establishment (1982) Hezbollah has undergone a series of metamorphoses. The central question of the analysis is that How could Hezbollah transform from an armed resistance movement to a complex and legitimate political force? The study seeks to answer this question through the following steps: In the first section, I will provide a brief overview of the relevance of identity and its transformations in the field International Relations. From the second to the fifth section, I will shed light on the various – often overlapping or even conflicting – identities of Hezbollah thereby providing a complex historical overview of the movement’s expanding agenda and political role in Lebanon. In the final section, I will demonstrate how continuous identity formation and flexible adaptation technologies helped Hezbollah not just merely to survive as a movement, but to broaden its agenda and emerge as a regional political force with considerable domestic and international influence.
